The history of ECM Boxes were put on shelves in warehouses Folders could get so big and heavy that we needed volumes Essentially, there was an army of people who were paid to keep everything in order Then came the PC, and we were all empowered to create and manage our own content So we started piling up content on our desktop and saving it to floppy disks (remember those?) There was a typing pool First we had paper Paper was archived to boxes Paper needed folders People created systems for referencing content There were filing clerks There were librarians
