Enhancements Overview: This presentation shows the upcoming features planned for the next generation of VF line machines. The specifications and features themselves may vary as they are developed for full production. This information is based on prototypes that are currently being developed. Changes will be implemented in 2009 with a completion by 2010
Features On the following pages you will see some of the features that will improve the VF line. Solid Coupler – Used on the X & Y-axes Sigma 5 Servo Motors – 1 million line encoders Z-axis Motor – With 3 electrical connections Home Switch – New style connector Spindle Housing – Cut to accommodate new head covers Minimum Lube System – Grease/Oil Plug Box – Coolant Level Sensor, Coolant, Aux. Coolant, Wash Down & Conveyor Chip Removal – 4 Auger chip pan & belt-type conveyor New Side Windows, front doors, sheet metal Maincon – Combines MOCON and Processor VF-5/50 with In-line Spindle
Solid Coupler Solid in the fact that it doesn’t have any flexable shims Vertical Cut Locking Screws Prototype only, the final design may vary from this example
Z-Axis Motor Motor Connection Encoder Connection Brake Connection The X, Y & Z – Axes are equipped with Sigma 5 motors with 1 million line encoders (Better Resolution & Finish) Prototype only, the final design may vary from this example
X-Axis Motor Motor Connection Home Switch Encoder Connection Prototype only, the final design may vary from this example
Home Switch Plug New style “Home Switch” plug Prototype only, the final design may vary from this example
Spindle Housing Note the groove cut in the casting to accommodate the new style Head Covers Prototype only, the final design may vary from this example
Spindle Head Cover Prototype only, the final design may vary from this example
Grease Oil Minimal Lube System • Precision oil injection to spindles • Grease lubricated linear guides and ball screws • Elimination of oil contamination tramp oil strainer
Plugs Box & Coolant Hose Manifold Prototype only, the final design may vary from this example
Washdown Hoses Coiled style hoses Prototype only, the final design may vary from this example
Chip Removal The VF-5 uses 4 augers to pull the chips to the front of the machine and a belt-type conveyor to pull them out. May incorporate smaller motors Prototype only, the final design may vary from this example
Augers Prototype only, the final design may vary from this example
Chip Removal & Coolant Flow Drawing showsVF-2 with 3 augers VF-5 has 4 augers Prototype only, the final design may vary from this example
