User Comments • An A&E Consultant: “When you access the Integrated Record, a patient’s allergies just hit you in the face, you don’t need to go looking for them, and in emergency situations time is precious”. • A Pharmacist from: “We used to request GP faxes from surgeries to obtain medication histories and we often had to wait some time for faxes to come through, which delayed our work and supply of patient's medication. It’s fantastic”. NHS | Presentation to World Class Informatics Conference - 23rd January 2014
User Comments • GP - Out of Hours “Invaluable when called out to visit patients. Before the Integrated Record we had no information and now we have the medication, allergies and long term conditions”. When dealing with patients in the Walk in Centre we now have their information to hand where previously we had nothing. The other day we even used it to obtain the contact details of a patient.” NHS | Presentation to World Class Informatics Conference - 23rd January 2014
User Comments • Practice Nurses “We are no longer duplicating tests of diabetic patients when they come in for review. If the tests have been done at the hospital we can view them in the Integrated Record.” • Another Consultant “The Integrated Recordis all my Christmas’ come at once”. NHS | Presentation to World Class Informatics Conference - 23rd January 2014
Other Stuff • Technically quite straightforward • Benefits of operating at scale • £s & competitiveness (inward investment) • Culture change (though already real positives here) • Nearly all health economies working on this – a broad commonality of endpoint objectives • Not prescription but standards based approach • Learn from others • “Not invented here” syndrome NHS | Presentation to World Class Informatics Conference - 23rd January 2014
