Summary (3 marks) • We live more comfortably today than we did in the past due to new technology • Change occurred in latter half of the 19th Century due to: • Larger population leading to new ideas • Most of human existence was less comfortable than today • More rewards for innovators which led to improved nutrition and education • increased productivity and wealth—evidence: 110,467 new ideas/yr. Cause – Effect Prediction (3 marks) • If innovators generate new ideas, then more products will be produced which meet the wants and needs of Canadian people and people of other countries. • If people who have skills are allowed to be innovative or use innovation, then they will have a larger share of the economic benefits and have larger incomes. • If government increases incentives for innovation, then our standard of living will grow due to increased quantity and quality of products and services and unemployment will be reduced.
