Six key themes • Sport • To increase participation in grassroots sports, sport competition and physical activity. • To improve the performance of Great Britain’s teams at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. • Culture • To deliver an inspiring Cultural Olympiad that encourages everyone to get involved, especially young people. • To create a wider cultural festival that generates long-lasting improvements, including positive economic impact and a sense of community and togetherness.
Six key themes • Sustainability • To help to deliver a sustainable Games. • To promote lasting environmental and community benefits using the Games as an example. • Volunteering • The volunteering strand of the Inspire programme aims to encourage volunteering in sport, culture, education and sustainability. • Business opportunities and skills • To help UK businesses win Games-related contracts. To showcase UK and regional business capability in relation to the Games
Six key themes • Education • To promote the Olympic Values of excellence, friendship and respect and the Paralympic Values of courage, determination, inspiration and equality. • To involve young people in the design, development and delivery of projects. • To improve young people’s skills and enhance employment opportunities. • To develop partnerships between institutions and other educational organisations. • Where relevant, to complement and promote Get Set, London 2012’s education programme for schools and colleges in the UK.
One aspect of Get Set • International Inspiration is London 2012’s official international sports legacy programme. • The programme aims to deliver on the ‘Singapore vision’ – the promise made by the London 2012 bid team to ‘reach young people all around the world and connect them to the inspirational power of the Games so they are inspired to choose sport.’ • The programme aims to use the power of sport to enrich the lives of millions of children and young people of all abilities, in schools and communities across the world, particularly in developing countries, through the power of high-quality and inclusive physical education, sport and play. • International Inspiration is embedded in the London 2012 International Education Plan. • It will contribute to the legacy of London 2012, enabling children and young people from across the world to participate in, learn and grow through sport.
A little bit about Aseema • Aseema is a Sanskrit word which means "limitless", a word that captures a child's spirit which can soar in the right environment. Aseema is committed to provide just this environment to street and underprivileged children of India • Aseema is a non-governmental organization, registered under the Bombay Public Trusts Act whose mandate is to protect and promote human rights of underprivileged children and women • Mission: To provide underprivileged children with a nurturing and stimulating educational environment that helps them recognize their limitless potential.
