What is California Financial Literacy Month? • A public awareness campaign designed to encourage economic and financial literacy. • An initiative of government, financial institutions, schools, community-based organizations, libraries, businesses, the media and others. • An opportunity to inform, educate and assist Californians of all ages to become more financially informed.
When is CAFLM? • Annual • During the month of April • Statewide • There is also National Financial Literacy Month, which is nationwide and there are other state initiatives.
When Did it Start? • 2001 • This is the twelfth year for California Financial Literacy Month. • Coordinated annually by the California Department of Financial Institutions (DFI). • Partner organizations dedicated to improved economic and financial literacy. • Dedicated to helping people better manage their personal finances.
