Les Articles Indéfinis vs. Les Articles Définis • Les Articles Indéfinis (indefinite articles) in the singular form are: un (masculine) and une (feminine) - un and une correspond to a (an) in English • Les Articles Définis (definite articles) in the singular form are: le (masculine) and la (feminine) - le and la correspond to the in English
Attention! • The definite articles le and la are shortened to l’ when they stand before a noun that begins with a vowel (this is called elision) - laamiel’amie - leamil’ami • The n of the indefinite article un is pronounced when it stands before a noun beginning with a vowel (this is called liaison) - unami
