Add these to the timeline. Put the scientists in Chronological order (oldest discovery first) The History of Particles

The History of Particles • Democritus (460-370BC) If you cut something up finally you will have an indivisible particle ‘atomos’ separated by empty space ‘vacuum’ • Aristotle (350BC) Thought that you couldn’t have a vacuum • Newton (1643-1727) Particles of a gas are held together by aether • Boyle (1627-1691) Thought that Aristotle was right.. vacuums do exist! • Torricelli (1643) Created a vacuum • Einstein (1879-1955) Proved that aether definitely doesn’t exist
