Introduction. • The Foehn winds are dry, hot winds that originate in a area of high altitude. • They blow down the leeward side or the northern side of a slope. Done By: "THE GANG"
How it is formed? • A foehn wind occurs when a deep layer of prevailing wind is forced over a mountain range. • As the wind descends to lower levels on the leeward side of the mountains the air heats as it comes under greater atmospheric pressure creating strong gusty warm and dry winds. Where is it found? • It is found mainly in Central Europe around the Alps and in regions higher up. Done By: "THE GANG"
