  3. What is it? • Inquiry is defined as a seeking for truth, information, or knowledge – seeking information by questioning. • But effective inquiry is more than just asking questions. • Converting information into knowledge • Emphasis on the skills and habits of inquiry

What are students doing when inquiring? • Wondering • Demonstrating curiosity • Questioning • Collecting, analysing, interpreting • Defending a point of view • Playing with ideas and possibilities • Drawing conclusions • Clarifying and building on knowledge • Experimenting • Constructing meaning • Making connections • Problem solving • Providing option and choices
