  1. PreTHP Precision in the THermal Properties investigations JRA Tentative program W. Marczewski – SRC PAS, Space Research Centre, Warsaw, Poland B. Usowicz – IA, PAS, Institute of Agrophysics, Lublin, Poland N. Koemle – IWF, Graz, Austria G. Kargl – IWF, Graz, Austria A. Hagermann – Open University, Milton Keynes, UK

  2. Infrastructure currently being in our disposal is: - vacuum chamber, climate chamber and ass. equipment, in SRC PAS, and - vacuum chamber, climate chamber and associated equipment, in IWF AAS, - physical labs for soil research, in IA PAS, Lublin, - physical labs for thermal research, in Open University, Milton Keynes Experience - MUPUS – instrument contributed to the Rosetta Philae lander experiment, conducted by DLR, Berlin - Thermal sensor design for MUPUS - Thermal modeling of the TP Probe for MUPUS - Regolith analog research for thermal and mechanical properties - Terrestrial soil research for agrophysics for validation purposes of ESA SMOS - Terrestrial Permafrost research in cooperation to CAREERI CAS, China - Tight cooperation to DLR, Berlin and DLR, Cologne in the frame of MUPUS experiment

  3. MUPUS on the Philae lander

  4. MUPUS analog on the Earth

  5. Main Deliverables 1) developing the MUPUS method (to be performed in 2014), 2) developing new methods and instruments, including new sensors focused on PRECISION and CONSISTENCY in determining thermal properties of the ground media. 3) disseminating the MUPUS experience on other space and terrestrial applications. In that, SRC PAS conducts the program on terrestrial research for calibration/validation purposes in the ESA Water Mission SMOS (to be launched 19 Sept. 2007), in cooperation to SVRT (SMOS Validation and Retrieval Team).

  6. A daily tempeature cycle, by MUPS probe somewhere on the Earth, down to 32 cm below the surface Timeline 2004 - 2014 MUPUS support activities 2006 – 2010 SMOS suport program 2007 – 2009 national grant on SWEX (SVRT SWEX program – Soil Water and Energy Exchange)
