  4. Too much in the summer, not enough in the winter. Greenhouse effect- the way in which a greenhouse collects and stores heat from the sun. Radiant energy warms up the plants, soil, and other objects. Greenhouses are solar collectors.

Hot water heating system • Water is heated in a boiler and pumped through pipes • Effective when there is a number of small compartments to be heated to different temperatures • 2 different types: gravity flow return system & motorized accelerated systems • Steam heating system • Water heated to a boil and steam runs through the pipes • Closed circuit system For Glass Houses

Hot air furnaces • Centrally located with air deflectors • Infrared radiant heating system • Gas-fired burners heat air that is distributed through pipes to the plants • Forced-air heaters • Localized heater units that force hot air directly into a duct system • Uses combination of electricity and propane For Plastic-Covered Greenhouses
