  1. Richard Howell • A brief history • Born Gravesend in 1955 • Father marine engineer • Mother housewife • Spent first 7 1/2 years of life in Gravesend • From 1963 to 1968 resident in Apapa, Nigeria, became fixated with ships.

  3. 1972 Joined BP completed apprenticeship 2nd Mates ticket 1977 Joined RFA, 3rd mate, 2nd mate, Sen. 2nd mate, Mates ticket. Brief history continued • On return from Nigeria went to Gravesend grammar school and had no other thoughts other than going to sea.

  5. 1982-1986 a spell on the NW European coast with Crescent Shipping Middle east and back again • 1981 to 1982 short-lived campaign as a 'Marine Consultant' in KSA working for father's firm.
