Biography Selena’s nickname was “Preciosa” which means beautiful, spirited, and wonderful. Su cumpleaños fue el 16 de abril 1971, y murió 31 de marzo 1995. Selena’s father, Abraham Quintanilla Jr., was Mexican American and her mother, Marcella Ofelia, was a Cherokee Native American. Ella nació en Lake Jackson, Texas. The president of Selena’s fan club, Yolanda Saldivar, murdered Selena in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 31, 1995. In addition, Selena was taken out of school by her father in eighth grade because she had too big of a performance schedule.
