Evening and Weekend Program • CA Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) Approved • Adults who want to pursue a career in nursing • Classes - Monday to Thursdays, evenings • Afternoon classes option on a trial basis. • Hospital experiences are on weekends, usually Sat/Sun, but may include Fridays
Community Nursing Experience • May be scheduled during Monday-Friday • Shelters • LA Unified School District • Senior Day Care Centers • Literacy Reading Program
Successful Completion Earns: • A.A. Degree in Nursing • Eligible to take the NCLEX-RN EXAM • Employment opportunities.... • Additional education is often needed for public health, school nursing, nursing education areas.
GE requirements • Sciences with labs as noted in the catalog • Public Speaking • Lifespan Developmental Psychology • Philosophy- Critical Thinking • Introductory Sociology or Cultural Anthropology • General Studies Elective (History or Art/ Music Appreciation or Political Science or Literature) • RST 41- Bioethics must be taken within the program, preferably in the first academic year.
Which courses transfer? • Transfer maximum: • 36 units of equivalent courses, with “C” or better, GPA 2.5 • Once admitted into program • no credits can be transferred from outside institutions. • “in progress” courses must be noted on application • Final official transcript(s) is required.

A.D.N. Program PROGRAM SPECIFICS
Two options available • Basic Option (2.5 - 3 years) • Take GE courses in first semester(s) • Start nursing courses after completing GE courses • Advanced Option (2-2 1/2 years) • Transfer all GE courses, start nursing program • RST 41 a Christian Bio-ethics, taken while in the program, preferably by the end of the 1st year.
Religious Studies Requirement RST 41- Biomedical Issues and Christian Ethics • Religion or ethics courses offered through • Philosophy, • History, or • Literature departments will not meet the requirement • This course can be taken concurrent with the nursing curriculum, preferably during the 1st academic year.

Class Schedule of Hours • Classes: • Evenings -> Mon – Thurs, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.; • Afternoon -> Mon – Thurs, 12:30-4:30pm, (trial basis). • Each course meets 1-2 times per week. • Clinical experiences: • Saturdays/Sundays, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. • Occasionally on Fridays, depending on course.

ADN Curriculum Plan • Total program: 10, 8-wk sessions • A total of 80 units required • As outlined in the college catalog
What is the schedule like? • Two 8-week sessions/semester • 8-week summer session • Fall semester -late August to December • Spring semester -January to May • Summer session- mid-May to mid-July.

Clinical Requirements Nursing is an educational program which includes a clinical component, i.e., “hands on” requirement.
Health Clearance • Students must update annually: • Physical exam, lab work • TB testing—2-step • Titers & immunizations: Hep B, Varicella & MMR • Malpractice Insurance • CPR
RANDOM DRUG TESTING Clinical facilities may require random drug testing of students • Failure to comply or a positive will result in exclusion from clinical • Exclusion from clinical results in failure or withdrawal from the program
Clinical Site Assignment • Carpooling encouraged • A reliable car a must to get to the hospital. • Proximity from home to clinical site is always considered • The responsibilities simulate employment. • No make-up for absenteeism, which may result in withdrawing from course and may alter graduation date.
Medication Math Calculation Exam • 100% required EVERY nursing course with a clinical • 2 chances allowed • If fail, the course must be dropped. • This will delay the completion date of the program.
LVN Mobility Option Degree Option • Must complete 36 units of GE requirements • Pass NLN Mobility Test to receive 15 units of nursing credits for Med.-Surg Nursing • Cost: is $80 (subject to change).
30 Unit Option - LVNs Non-Degree Option • Allows NCLEX-RN exam after completing 28 units of required courses. • NOTE: • May not be endorsed by other states • May limit opportunities for career advancement • Does not receive a degree from MSMC

We only accept online applications, however a PDF of the application is available. If you submit the application PDF, the application fee is $40.

FOREIGN STUDENTS If you attended college outside the United States, we will need the following items: • Official, sealed, international transcripts • An official, detailed international evaluation of your foreign coursework The evaluation company that we recommend is Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute. Applying For Financial Aid • Apply for financial aid at the same time you are applying for admission. • Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be processed into a Student Aid Report by March 2nd of every academic year *You will need to apply for a personal Identification Number (PIN) for the FAFSA at www.pin.ed.gov
