  2. Made by Aboriginal people of Australia • Aborigines: “native” people of Australia • Live primitively – without comforts of modern life. • Some tribes still live this way today.

  3. Bark paintings are a form of communication- created to tell stories. • “Dreamings” – Aboriginal folk tales & myths that teach why things happen the way they do.

  4. Often chose animals as subject of their work. • Use of REPETITIVE dots & circles.

  6. The bark that was used came from Eucalyptus trees- “Stringybark” • Painted the bark with pigments (colors) from plants.

  7. Aboriginal men painting the bark.

  8. Traditional colors are: brown, white, tan, yellow, red & black.

  9. What animals do you see? What traditional colors do you see?

  10. Now you will be creating a project inspired by the Aboriginal bark paintings!!! • You will be selecting one AUSTRALIAN animal for your project…….
