  1. 3.1 Notes: Exponential Functions Objective: To evaluate exponential expressions and identify and graph exponential and logistic functions.

  2. Definition: Exponential Function • Let a and b be real number constants. An exponential function is a function that can be written in the form where a is nonzero, b is positive, and b does not equal 1. The constant a is the initial value of f (the value at x = 0), and b is the base.

  3. Identify the Exponential Function • Identify whether or not the function is exponential. If it is, identify the initial value and the base. Write your own exponential function!
