  4. Christof and theme: • After watching the ‘Tru-Talk’ scene and the escape scene, you will understand more about Christof’s role in the film. He is an important character. • To understand how Peter Weir uses camera angles to present Christof (and help you understand the themes of manipulation, God, confinement), study the next two images.

  7. Truman’s characteristics: • 1. He is priest-like. He often wears black and is soft spoken and quiet. He watches over Truman. • 2. He has a lot of power. The quote ‘I am the creator…’ shows us this. Also, his position up high and in the sky over the landscape reinforces this. Camera shots are low angle or CU. • 3. He is God-like. He is almost like Truman’s father (watched him grow up). Also, when he says ‘cue sun’ it is a lot like saying ‘let there be light.’
