  4. How can we resolve this? • A balanced approach • Involve and educate the community • Use nationally recognized guidelines (NCTM, etc.) when setting standards, selecting textbooks and curricula • Address the problem before it comes up by maintaining open communications

  5. What have other districts done? • A district in Oregon had a panel of experts speak to their community • A district in Utah considered revising their curriculum early
