Write-n-Cite allows seamless integration of references in MS Word, facilitating easy citation placeholders and bibliography creation. Sign up, import references, organize them, and utilize Write-n-Cite to manage citations effortlessly in chosen reference style. Access tutorial for additional support.
E N D
REFWORKS(WRITE-N-CITE): Write-n-Cite allows one to write a paper in MS Word, and to insert citation placeholders directly from one’s references imported into RefWorks. Then it will create in-text citations and a bibliography based on these citation placeholders, and add it to the paper in the reference style chosen.
SIGN UP FOR A FREE ACCOUNT:Click on E-Resources: General Education
Type in your surname and full student number, without an “s” at the beginning:
Click on Sign up for an Individual Account. After signing up, one can immediately begin to use RefWorks
2. GET REFERENCES INTO REFWORKS: • Import text files (i.e. list(s) of references by sending it from a database, eg. ERIC) • Direct Import from an online database (i.e. searching a database (eg ERIC) out of RefWorks) • Enter references manually
3. ORGANIZE YOUR REFERENCES IN REFWORKSThe references imported will be displayed:
5. DOWNLOAD PROGRAMME WRITE-N-CITE FOR REFWORKS TO OPERATE IN MS WORD:
A BUTTON IS INSTALLED IN MS WORD FOR WRITE-N-CITE. Click on it to start Write-n-Cite:
6. CREATE CITATION PLACEHOLDERS IN ONE’S PAPERIn MS Word, log into Write-n-Cite, using the RefWorks log-in & password:
All references will be displayed. For references in a specific folder, select the folder, or search for references containing a specific term:
Keep Write-n-Cite open while writing in MS Word. To insert a citation placeholder in one’s paper, click on the Cite link next to the reference in Write-n-Cite:
Write-n-Cite has inserted a citation placeholder into the paper for the reference selected (to be formatted later into one’s chosen reference style):
The citation can be previewed to see the formatted version, as well as to make modifications.Select Edit citation:
Citations can also be modified and Saved to Word. These will also then be displayed in the Preview:
7. CREATE A BIBLIOGRAPHY:After naming and saving the paper in MS Word, go to Write-n-Cite and select Bibliography:
Select an Output Style from the dropdown menu, and click Create Bibliography:
Write-n-Cite has changed the name of the paper by adding Final in front of the file name (the original paper without the bibliography still exists as well):
A Bibliography has now been created and added to the paper, and the citations have been formatted in the style of choice (here APA):
