Background • Developed by the Task Force on Gender Statistics Training for Statisticians • Builds upon experience of UNECE in organising training courses on gender statistics in CIS and SEE countries • training materials (multimedia presentations, case studies, participatory activities) • Contributions of about 50 experts

  3. Consultation with Bureau, CES and experts • reviewed by the CES Bureau and gender experts in October 2009 • April-May 2010 electronic consultation with countries and international organizations • 37 replies received: Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Republic of Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States of America, CIS-Stat, Eurostat, FAO, UNESCO Institute for Statistics, World Bank

  4. Comments by CES • well-arranged, systematically prepared and thoroughly compiled…, a comprehensive tool for gender statistics • written in a captivating and easy perceivable way, contains many examples of good practice and information from different countries of the world • provides a balanced perspective on the production of gender statistics • a valuable resource for statistical organizations that are beginning work in this field as well as those that already have gender statistics programmes • chapter 4, its structure and consistency across the topics is one of the best parts of the publication

Proposal • Amendments provided in ECE/CES/2010/7 Add.1 Annex • Updated Manual in ECE/CES/2010/7 Rev.1 • Proposal: the Conference is invited to endorse the manual Developing gender statistics: a practical tool, as presented in the document ECE/CES/2010/7 Rev.1 • If adopted, will be published and translated into Russian
