  2. 2-Step Equations Look familiar? A 2-step equation is like a gift… You have to unwrap it in the reverse order that is was wrapped.

  3. Wrapping up the variable Look at this equation…xis the gift 2x + 5 = 11 How many things are happening to x? First, it is multiplied by 2 the box wrapping paper Second, 5 is added to it

  4. Unwrapping the variable 2x + 5 = 11 +5 is the wrapping paper, times 2 is the box, right? x times 2….. then + 5 When you unwrap do you take it out of the box first?

  5. NO, you first take off the paper 2x+ 5 = 11 -5 -5 2x = 6 2x = 6 22 Now take it out of the box… x = 3

  6. Let’s practice! -3v -10 = -4 -10 What is the wrapping paper? -3v-10 = -4 +10 +10 -3v = 6 -3v= 6 -3 -3 v = -2
