  1. Northern area Evening Seminar Thursday 28th February - Northumbrian Water Offices, Durham A case study into the development, utilisation and benefits of real-time scoping, engineering and estimation models; all at the touch of a button! Guest speaker: John McGovern, Head of Investment Delivery, Northumbrian Water During PR09 Northumbrian Water was faced with the challenge of producing hundreds of cost estimates to support the business plan submission, as well as the “business as usual” cost estimating requirements of delivering the capital programme. This presentation covers the development of an innovative approach to this problem, which combines scope development and cost estimating into a system with a single user interface, capable of producing consistent, clearly scoped cost estimates in hours rather than the conventional approach which can take days and weeks. The event is planned to start at 5.30pm with a buffet, the evening seminar will then commence at 6pm and should be concluded by 7.30pm. Exact details of location and directions will be clarified nearer the event. This event is open to all, however preference will be given to members of the Institute of Water. Places are limited so if you would like to attend or for further information please contact: Eileen Rutter by email (Eileen.Rutter@nwl.co.uk) or by phone (0191 3016343). The deadline for registering your interest in this event is 17th February.
