I have decided to teach 6th grade math. I have chosen to place my desk in the upper right hand corner of the classroom at a diagonal so that from my desk I will be able to see everything and everyone in every part of the classroom. I placed my white board at the upper center of the classroom with the desks in rows directly in front of the board so that each student will be able to view the board. Students will use their individual desks to do board work, individual assignments, and tests. This will be the area of the classroom where students will be expected to work quietly. I also placed a podium at the upper center of the classroom just left of the white board for me to stand at during lectures and lessons. At the left of the classroom I placed four group work tables so that a class of 20 students can be separated into groups of five during group assignments. The group work tables will be used with louder activities such as group work and projects. On the back wall I have placed a cloth pocketed calculator holder. Next to that in the bottom right corner I have placed a desk with a computer for students to use when computer work is required. On the right wall to the right of the teachers desk I have placed a shelf to hold texts books with a tray on top to hold class assignments and homework assignments that are to be turned in. I have chosen to place this shelf in direct view of my desk so that I will able to monitor students turning in assignments and removing and replacing textbooks.
