  2. Introduction • You should include: • the title of the story • Author’s name • What happens in the story • Thesis statement: “Using ________(feminist, Marxist, cultural, or archetypal) critical perspective, the reader can see ________ (theme).”

(example: Although (author’s LAST NAME) uses many critical perspectives in his story, (theme- restated in different words) is best understood by looking through the (critical perspective) lens. -Evidence 1with embedded quote (not the whole sentence) will be in “”. Example: The townspeople are convinced that women are gullible just because Colonel Sartoris tells such an outrageous lie to Miss Emily that “only a woman could have believed”(149). -Two sentences of commentary explaining the quote. (example: what was the lie? And why did he tell it?)
