How can we use the woodland? • Natural space • Outdoor learning We decided to create a natural space for children in St Cadoc’s to use in different ways in their learning. We talked to the local council about using some of the woodland for a school project.
We worked collaboratively in groups on proposed plans for our Woodland Project.
Planning These are some of the plans we drew of the things we wanted in our woodland project.
Our project is based on 6 themes
A log ‘xylophone’. Music in the woodland
Storytelling in the woodland Woodland stage Building shelters Creativity
First we presented our plans to Mr McColl who looks after the woodland trees. Next we went with Mr McColl and measured a piece of ground for our project. What we did! Mr McColl asked some parks workers to put logs around our project area to mark it out and also the stepping stone logs that were on our plans.
After that we raked lots of woodchip around our project to stop it being muddy. What we did!
Finally we planted trees around the boundary of our project. What we did!
