Inventors of TV’s • Television was not invented by a single inventor • Paul Nipkow invented the rotating disk • Cathode ray tube developed in 1907 by English inventor A.A. Campbell-Swinton and Russian scientist Boris Rosing. • In the 1920's, John Logie Baird patented the idea of using arrays of transparent rods to transmit images for television
History of TVs • In 1908, Alan Archibald Campbell-Swinton, described how "distant electric vision" could be achieved by using a cathode ray tube as both a transmitting and receiving device (UK) • September 7, 1927, Farnsworth's Image Dissector camera tube transmitted its first image (USA) • In 1929 Farnsworth transmitted the first live human images with his system (USA)
