Group meeting, 17 August 2011 Other • Student Presentations with VSL on August 19 (ice cream at 1:30pm, start at 2pm) • Data acquisition techniques and development of testing equipment for the JLab Hall C 12 GeV kaon aerogel detector (Nathaniel/Mike) • Simulations of light collection efficiency for the Jlab Hall C 12 GeV kaon aerogel detector (Laura) • Conceptual design and component evaluation of particle detectors (Katya/Robert) • Final Summer Reports due by August 20 • My August Schedule • August 18-20: presentation on detectors (need some input) • August 21-26: oral defense of our experiment proposals • August 29: CUA classes start! • Fall schedules: stop by or email once classes started
Group meeting, 17 August 2011 What will we do over next year? • Complete the setting up/testing/evaluation of detector components • Data acquisition system • PMT testing • Aerogel testing and detector prototype • Simulations of aerogel and other detectors in experimental environment • GEMC of aerogel • Simulations of detector for Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) • Also opens options for participating in program at Jlab and MIT in summers 2012/2013 • Preliminary design simulations and component selection for pi0 detector • Fabrication of all mechanical parts for aerogel • Assembly of all parts of the aerogel detector in 2012 at JLab
