  2. The ruler • The king was the ruler of the kingdom

  3. Making friends • Kings formed friendships if they thought it would benefit them. The kings • Could trade, help each other in war, send gifts, etc.

  4. A king’s ransom • in 1193 If a king was captured in battle a huge ransom could be demanded for his return; Richard the first of England known as Richard Coeur de lion (Lionheart) was captured a ransom for about 25,000,000.

  5. King Imeited • * Most Kings inherited their land and name from the former king. If the king had no son their daughter would be queen to chose a new king; But this rarely ever happened in the medieval times.

  6. Coronation Ceremony. • * During the coronation ceremony the new king received the crown from the most important church and the king was crowned the leader of the kingdom.

  7. King’s advisors • Kings usually chose people (advisors) to assist them on contracts, assignments, etc. They might also be like reeves or bailiffs. The king also did • Not have to take the advisor’s advice.
