Catalogs • Law Cat • The most reliable source for material in the Boalt library • OskiCat • The catalog for other libraries on Berkeley campus • Melvyl • The catalog for libraries on all 10 UC campuses
Finding books in the stacks • The location and call number in the catalog record tell you where to find a book in the library. • Maps and call number guide
UCB Libraries and beyond • A library for every research need • When a campus library can’t provide what you need, look elsewhere.
Databases • Law library list • Main library list • Subject • Type
Indexes • Use an index to search for articles (just one example). • Indexes include links to literature not included in popular full-text databases.
Online Journals • The journal of interest to you may be available online. • Another approach: search LawCat for the journal title (not the article title), then link from the record.
Connecting from off campus Use the proxy server to give your computer a UCB IP address.
Research Guides/Tutorials • Many specific areas of research are covered. • Main Library tutorials assist with areas of research and use of particular tools.
Thesis examples • Some LLM and JSD theses are in the library stacks and some are in microfiche : search the subject : university of california berkeley school of law dissertations in LawCat • JSP dissertations are in the JSP library (2440 Piedmont)
