Melting Ice • The melting of ice will cause sea levels around the world to rise. • Because of the rising sea levels people who live near the coast can lose there homes ,source of income • Fresh water aquifers could become too salty to be used as a source of fresh water
Plants & Animals • Warming can cause a shift in the geographical ranger of some animals. Ex. Birds that migrate to the north may not have 2 migrate to the south during the winter • Warming of the surface water can cause a short in zooplankton which marine animals depend on for food. • Warmer tropical water can kill algae that nourish coral, destroying coral reefs.
Weather patterns • If the earth warms up significantly the surface of the ocean will absorb more heat, this can make hurricanes & typhoons more common. • Can change ocean current patterns like shutting off the gulf stream. • Some regions can have rainfall more often, sever floods can occur more often
Health Problems • A warmer average temperature could cause people to suffer from allergies more during the year. • Death because of heath reasons will increase • More mosquitoes which can increase people get these diseases malaria, dengue fever, and encephalitis
Agriculture • Droughts can become more frequent • Decrease in crop yields • Deplete aquifers that have already been over used
