Instructions • Set up page: • Line 1: Write “1st Amendment” then skip 10 lines. • Line 11: Write “Criminal Rights” then skip 10 lines. • Line 21: Write “Other Rights” • When the Title screen pops up, choose ONE prompt and write it below the heading. Make a decision quickly. • Write your prompts.

  3. 1st Amendment • How many ways can you come up with to voice your opinion? • How would the 1st Amendment look to a mute? • You are a protest sign. Describe how it feels. • If you could have all of the freedom in the world, how could you use it to stop censorship? • How is the 1st Amendment like a driver’s license? • What would happen if there was no 1st Amendment?

  4. Criminal Rights • How would “cruel and unusual” look to a death row inmate? • If you were a gavel what would you see? • If you had all of the legal knowledge in the world, how could you use it to promote justice? • How is a lawyer like a shoe? • What would happen if there were no juries?

  5. Other Rights • Brainstorm all of the needs you would have to provide if you were forced to quarter soldiers. • How would the right to bear arms look to a vulture? • If you were a lawsuit, what would you smell? • Suppose you controlled the curriculum, what courses would you change? • I only know about the 1st Amendment, explain the 9th Amendment to me.

  6. Collaborative Personal Communication • Pick your best prompt. Consider uniqueness, thought, and clarity. • Write prompt, response & name on one side of card. • Drop in box. • After all have dropped, draw card from box. • Read response. Make comments on back of the card about pros and cons. Score 7-10. • Return to the teacher. Share with class.
