Jeremiah 17 Outline • Sin of idolatry (17:1-4) Jeremiah 17:1 The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, and with the point of a diamond: it is graven upon the table of their heart, and upon the horns of your altars;

“Topheth” in Jeremiah 7:31-32 and 19:6-14 Tophet (Topheth) in the valley of the son of Hinnom. Tophet was the place in that valley where the continual fires were kept up, in and through which they consecrated their children to Moloch. “Topheth” (fireplace, Isa.30:33) was a high place in the Valley of Hinnom just south of Jerusalem where child sacrifices were offered to Molech 2 Kings 23:10

Preaching brings persecution • 1 Corinthians 4:12-13 12 and labor, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it: 13 Being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the off scouring of all things unto this day.
