  2. Aim To enhance understanding of audience researchas essential for taking informed decisions, enabling community oriented radio stations toflourish by better satisfying their audiences andstakeholders, generating income and becomingmore sustainable

Participants Twenty radio practitioners representing twelve community orientedradio stations.Three examples: • Mama FM, Kampala: Target audience: "Marginalised and vulnerablewomen (e.g. in slum areas) and women in leadership positions" • Radio Wa,Lira: Target audience: "Rural communities with a biastowards vulnerable groups in Lango (women, children, disabledpersons, elderly" • KKCR, Kagadi Kabaale: Target audience "Rural poor, marginalised groups with a special focus on children/youth and women"

Process • AudienceDialogue (AD)/Uganda approached CAMECO (Oct ‚ 2013) • A projectproposal was prepared (AD,UEC and CAMECO) • Project approvalbythe Board ofStem van Afrika (May 2014) • A Call for Interest withclearparticipationcriteria was dissemi-natedtoaboutthirtyradiostations Uganda (May 2014) • Screening ofapplications (by AD,UEC and CAMECO) • Workshop tookplacefrom 1stJulyto 11thJuly in Kampala • August - October 2014 implementation/fieldphase • 25th/26th November 2014: Networking/sharingmeeting in Kampala • OngoingProcess… Next Steps
