  1. The Battle Of Bunker Hill by: Riley Brereton

  2. Where & WHEN did it take place? The Battle of Bunker Hill took place on the Charlestown peninsula on the north side of the Boston Harbor. It took place on the 17th of June in 1775, during the Revolutionary War.

  3. Why did the battle happen? The Americans neededto defend against the British because they were trying to recolonize. In order to defend Boston, the Americans needed to maintain control of the hilltop positions with good views of Boston and the Harbor.

  4. Here is the strategy for the British!

  5. The troops! The British had 2,400 troops and Americans had 1,500 troops fighting. The British troops were led by General Howe and General Clinton. The American troops were led by General Putnam and General Prescott.

  6. Famous quote! One of the American commanders said, “Don’t shoot until you see the whites of their eyes.” He said this because the Americans had fewer troops and much less ammunition than the British and needed to use their bullets wisely.

  7. the deaths Although the British won the Battle of Bunker Hill - 1,034, or about half of the British troops, died in battle.

  8. bunker hill today! Today, a 221 foot tall granite statue can be found at the site of the battle.

  9. Interesting fact! They thought they were on Bunker Hill, but they were not. They were actually fighting on Breed’s Hill.
