Task 2: Existing Situation related to the operation of UWTPs and the Effluent Disposal Practices with emphasis on the Reuse in the Agricultural Production • Number and Location of UWTPs • Population served by UWTPs • Presentation of the technologies applied • Existing effluent quantity and quality in selected plants • Prevailing effluent disposal methods and practices • Impacts caused by the operation of the UWTP and the disposal practices applied • Determination of pollutant removal efficiencies of selected wastewater treatment facilities

Task 3: Analysis of Best Practices and Success Stories • Recommendations of the WFD • Success stories on agricultural reuse of urban wastewater in Mediterranean countries • Selected cases: Cyprus, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Portugal, Spain, Tunisia and Turkey • Other good examples on agricultural reuse of wastewater all over the world • Selected cases: Australia, Kuwait, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and USA

  6. Task 3: Analysis of Best Practices and Success Stories • Problems associated with reclaimed water reuse projects • Good reuse practises • Selection of wastewater treatment methods • The cost of wastewater reclamation and reuse

Future Tasks • Task 4: Development of Specifications for UWT Technologies and Systems(to be completed by January 2005, m21) • Review of the UWT technologies (m15) • Review of the standards (m15) • Development of technical specifications (m21) • Training on the UWT technologies (postponed up to m26)

Future Tasks • Task 5: Development of Specifications for UWT Utilization(to be completed by June 2005, m26) • Review of the UW Reuse Systems focusing on the reuse in agricultural production (m 22) • Methods • Standards (completed, but can be updated…) • Development of specifications for the reuse in agriculture (m 25) • Reduction of pathogens • Crop restrictions • Application methods • Human exposure • Development of guidelines for the storage conditions (m25) • Examination of all limitations/constraints that might hinder sustainable reuse (m25) • Training on the urban wastewater reuse technologies and systems (m 26)

  9. Training Workshops • Combined workshops for Tasks 4 and 5 • In each country of the Med partners • Cyprus, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Turkey • All actors involved can be invited • 2 or 3 days
