Growing Up • Joseph lost his voice, and his brother took his position. • He started writing symphonies and was married to Maria Anna Keller on November 26, 1760. • He was named court musician at the palace of the influential Esterhazy. • He supported himself for 30 years in that position.
Rohrau, Austria -Joseph’s hometown
Last years of his life Joseph spent the last years of his life composing only vocal pieces. He died from old age when he was 77 on May 31, 1801. Haydn composed 104 symphonies in his lifetime. Mozart’s requiem was performed at his funeral.
