  1. The fire started on Sunday 2nd September 1666, nearly 350 years ago. The baker was called Thomas Farynor and he lived in the same building as his bakery. Can you guess what happened? Sample Slide Thomas Farynor, the baker, forgot to put out the fire in an oven when he left the bakery on the Saturday evening.

  2. Early in the morning of Sunday 2nd September 1666, Thomas and his family were woken by one of their workers. The worker could smell smoke and it was coming from the bakery! Sample Slide The fire soon spread and the flames became so fierce that it was impossible for them to escape downstairs. Throwing open an upstairs window, the family climbed out onto their roof to escape.
