Background: EPA’s Electronic Notice of Intent(eNOI) System • eNOI is an online electronic permit application system that enables facilities to submit forms to EPA for coverage under the NPDES program general permit for stormwater discharges • EPA is the permitting authority in 5 states, and federal and Indian lands • Industrial facility permittees can also submit discharge monitoring data to EPA using eNOI

  3. Background: Reporting Stormwater Monitoring Data Facilities subject to EPA’s Multi-Sector General Permit are required to submit discharge monitoring data to EPA Monitoring data may include chemical substances along with other parameters (TSS, pH, BOD5)

  4. eNOI and SRS Web Service for Chemical Substances eNOI uses the SRS Web Service to assist facilities in reporting additional parameters eNOI utilizes the ‘Single Substance Request’ for chemical substances

  5. eNOI and SRS Web Service for Chemical Substances eNOI users can type in all or part of the chemical eNOI search results displays CAS Number, EPA Identifier, Systematic Name, and Common Name (i.e., Registry Name) Users can select a chemical to complete the parameter field

  6. eNOI and SRS Web Service for Chemical Substances With SRS Web Service, eNOI users stay within the eNOI system when searching for a chemical eNOI also has a link to the SRS search page (For comparison, the same search in the SRS is pictured below)

  7. eNOI and SRS Web Services: Lessons Learnedand Future Plans Lessons Learned during implementation • Ongoing communication • Coordination with system contractors (eNOI and CDX) • Testing before deployment Under consideration for the future: • Improved interface • Include additional substances (biological organism and/or physical property) • Utilize the ‘Substance List’ service; develop a list for NPDES Stormwater and/or other NPDES programs
