  2. What is a Rule? A rule is a principle, law, or regulation governing conduct or action. The Five Rules of Mr. Small’s Class: 1) Follow Directions 2) Be on time and come prepared 3) Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself 4) No put downs, bullying, or teasing 5) Follow the uniform policy

  3. What happens When I Follow the Rules? Positives 1) Positive Phone Calls 2) Public Recognition -Student of the Week 3) Notes Home

  4. What Happens When I Don’t Follow the Rules? Consequences First Time: Warning Second Time: 2 Minutes After Class Third Time: Phone Call Home\After-School Detention Fourth Time: Referral to Office Severe\Defiance: Immediate Referral to Office

Teacher’s Creed • As your teacher, I will not allow you to do anything that is not in your best interest or in the best interest of this classroom. • As your teacher, I will not allow you to stop anyone from learning for any reason whatsoever. • As your teacher, I will not allow you to stop me from teaching for any reason whatsoever. • No manipulations • Never question my management system when I am teaching.

  7. Active Listening Procedures • 1) Look at the speaker – eyes and body facing the speaker. • 2) Give your undivided attention – don’t shuffle papers or fidget. • 3) Remain seated. • 4) Listen with your eyes, ears, and heart.

  8. Direct Instruction • 1) Have all materials ready (pen, pencil, paper, and textbook). • 2) Practice Active Listening (Your eyes, your hands, your ears and your heart. • 3) Remain seated. • 4) Raise your hand for questions or comments.

  9. Cooperative Group Procedures • 1) Work and talk with only your group members. • 2) Use a regular 12” voice and take turns speaking. • 3) Each member is responsible for contributing to the group effort. • 4) Ask three before me.
