Purchase Stone Determine the diameter and location of the circular patio. Take measurements to a home supply store and select the material for the project. There are specific wedge-shape paver patio design stones available in special packs for laying a circular pattern. These pavers come in a variety of colors and textures. For large areas, consider having the home supply store deliver the material to the project site. Prepare Base Pound a metal stake into the center point of the circle. Attach string to the stake and measure out the radius (half the diameter) of the circular patio. Attach a can of marking paint to the end of the string and spray out a perfect circle. Excavate the area inside the paint to a depth of 6 inches. Dampen the ground and compact the dirt base with a hand or power tamper. Add and tamp 1- inch layers of gravel until there is a firm 3 inches thick compacted gravel base. Spread and level a 1-inch layer of sand over the gravel base. Lay Pavers
Circular paver packs generally include a diagram that illustrates the number and types of paver patio installation per row. Using a circle pack system ensures that no cuts are necessary and that all joints are uniform in size. Begin laying pavers in the center and work outward following the pattern provided in the pack. Install Edging With the pavers all set, secure the patio area with snap edging. Wrap the snap edging snugly against the pavers and drive 10-inch spikes through the holes. Angle the spikes in towards the pavers to secure tightly. Where two pieces of edging meet snap them together and drive a spike through each piece. Fill Joints Sweep the patio clean. Dump sand onto the paver patio install and work it into the joints with a sweeper brush. Spray with water to settle the sand into the joints. Repeat the process until the joints are completely filled with sand.
