Methods I Assignments To Be Done In Field Placement • Read Aloud • Diversity Focused Project (Read Aloud 2) • Reading Project (Teach a language arts lesson) • Social Studies and Arts Integration Project (Teach 3 lessons on a social studies topic)
Expectations for Methods I Cooperating Teachers • Welcome your student • Meet with student on regular basis • Schedule time for student to teach lessons • Encourage student to engage with children as much as possible • Be transparent in your teacher thinking and planning • Complete mid-semester summative evaluations, dispositions and conferences with students • Complete final evaluations and dispositions on TK20 • Conference with student before end of semester • Communicate with college supervisors regularly
Expectations for Methods I Students • They will attend for 2 half days each week • They will write a KSC lesson plan for any lesson that they teach (or portion of as they learn the process) • It will be sent to you on a timeline that YOU request. Please let the KSC supervisor know if this is not happening • They may be able to attend other events at school such as field trips, Open Houses if their schedule allows • They will provide you with copies of assignments and calendars • Methods students cannot be left alone in the class or on the playground with students

Methods II Assignments To Be Done in Field Placement • Completion of Methods II Field Experience Contract • Done at beginning and mid-semester • This becomes their primary field focus and assignment • Methods II Mathematics Project • 3 related lessons on a math topic with literacy and technology integration • Methods II Science Project • 3 related lessons on a science topic with literacy and technology integration and a rubric assessment
Expectations for Methods II Cooperating Teachers • Meet with student on regular basis • Schedule time for student to teach lessons • Be transparent in your teacher thinking and planning • Hold student to Field Experience Contract expectations • Complete mid-semester summative evaluations, dispositions and conferences with students • Complete final evaluations and dispositions on TK20 • Conference with student before end of semester • Communicate with college supervisors regularly • Give students as much independent teaching time as you can
Expectations of Your Methods II Student • They will attend for 1 full day and 1 half day each week • They will write a KSC lesson plan for any lesson that you want them to teach until you are satisfied that they are capable and prepared enough that you no longer require one from them • It will be sent to you on a timeline that YOU request. Please let the KSC supervisor know if this is not happening
Expectations of Your Methods II Student con’t. • They may be able to attend other events at school such as field trips, Open Houses if their schedule allows • They will provide you with copies of assignments and calendars • Methods students cannot be left alone in the class with students
EDUC 400- Student Teaching Assignments To Be Done in Field Placement • Integrated Thematic Unit • Seminars with Site Supervisor • 1-2 week solo teaching mid-semester • 1-2 week solo teaching end of semester
Expectations For Student Teaching Cooperating Teachers • Review Student Teaching Handbook- available on Teacher Education webpage for timeline and guidelines depending on 7 or 14 week placement http://www.keene.edu/teachered/handbooks.cfm • Do formal observations of student teacher according to Handbook schedule- be sure to debrief with student after • Meet with student on regular basis • Meet with site supervisor on regular basis • Encourage student to take part in all teacher related activities such as staff meetings, workshop days, duties and possibly parent conferences

Expectations of Your Student Teacher con’t. • They may be left alone with your students in the classroom • They will be there M-F and will make up any absences • Speak to placement coordinator regarding making up snow days • Special permission may be granted for your student teacher to substitute for CT ONLY. Talk to site supervisor and placement coordinator for more info. • Students will follow field placement calendar NOT KSC calendar
