One day I was with my mom and dad and my brothers Simon and Jonah in Central Park. Also accompanying us were our aunt and uncle Parish and Kate, and their sons Davis, Thad, and Jake. We walked by Belvedere Castle and decided to go inside and walk to the top. Once we had entered, someone inside that worked there told us that Belvedere was built in 1869. This is just one case that shows you just how much history and old architecture there is in such a modern city like the big apple. • First, according to www.uppereast.com before the Upper East Side, before the Upper East Side was the big, rich, modern Upper East Side it was, “home to native American fishing camps along the east river bluff.” This means that the Upper East Side was just a quiet Native American fishing community on the east river. All of the hustle and bustle got started “in 1837 when the New York and Harlem railroad began to increase commercial development… would eventually become the heart of German Yorkville…” this fact (also from www.uppereast.com) explains how this railroad attracted new businesses and inspired people to make a life there. • Based on the facts, the Upper East Side has come a long way. It has come from a native American fishing community to a hustling, bustling, big, modern community.
