What is acne? Acne is a disease which is caused by some outbreaks of the skin lesions commonly known as pimples. This condition is caused by the skin's oil glands making too much sebum, an oily substance, which leads to plugged pores. This can also be caused by the immediate development of bacteria called P. acne.Acne lesions attack mostly on the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders. It is the known to be the most common skin disease. However, acne is not a serious health threat but severe acne can lead to disfiguring and permanent scarring.
How does acne affect? Most of the young men and women will be having at least few pimples in their whole life. Young men are more prone to have a more serious form of acne. Acne which happens in young women tends to be more random and is associated with hormone changes, such as the menstrual cycle.As women get older with respect to time, acne often gets better. But some women have acne for many years. Even, some women get acne for the first time at age 30 or 40.Most of the women feel that acne can be an upsetting illness. Women could have feelings of depression, poor body image, or low self-esteem. But one should allow acne to let it run its course. Today, almost every case of acne can be resolved.Acne also can, sometimes, be prevented. Talk to your dermatologist about how you can help prevent acne and if treatment would help you.
How is mild acne treated? There are many treatments for mild acne. Mild acne involves whiteheads, blackheads and small pustules. One can wash his face twice a day with warm water and a gentle cleanser or soap at home. Your doctor may advice you to try an over-the-counter lotion or cream. These medicines can make your skin dry if you use them too much. Be sure to follow the directions.If the medicines mentioned above don't work properly then your doctor can prescribe you with a cream or lotion with benzoyl peroxide, resorcinol, salicylic acid, or sulfur. Benzoyl peroxide which works to reduce oil made by the glands. Resorcinol, salicylic acid, and sulfur help breakdown whiteheads and blackheads. If your acne does not get better after 6 to 8 weeks, talk to your doctor about changing your treatment.
