The CTA Community Connection bus serves as a mobile educational campaign, aimed at educating CPS student riders on safe bus and train transit. The bus features various resources and activities to engage the audience and promote good transit habits.

Overview Background:Targeted educational campaign to provide information about and serve as a brand ambassador for CTA. Campaign Objective: Educate CPS student riders on how to safely ride the CTA bus and rail systems Teach good habits that will last a lifetime Provide informational resources that promote bus and train safety Target Audience:Chicagoland neighborhood’s where CTA service is available. Key Message: The Community Bus is a specially designated vehicle that will be deployed throughout the city to provide valuable transit information regarding fares, capital projects, career opportunities and new developments. The bus will be stationed at city festivals, music events and parks throughout the summer season Bus will intake customer feedback and allow the wider community to become more familiar with the CTA.
Bus Features • The bus is a standard 60-ft. Nova vehicle custom-wrapped in various shades of blue and features a list of all of the Chicago neighborhoods throughout its exterior • In order to provide the feel of a mobile atmosphere, some of the bus’s interior seats were removed to create open space while customer counters were added • It includes a mobile phone charging station and modernized audio and PA system • Video monitors have also been fitted within the bus to provide additional information about the agency, such as “CTA In Your Community” episodes • The Community Connection bus was staffed with a minimum of two CTA employees • Included were shelves filled with general CTA information: maps, facts at a glance and promotional items. • It also provides visitors with general information brochures about Ventra and collateral materials on the various service improvements and capital projects CTA is working on.
2017 Schedule • Community Connection Bus total activation days = 28 • The bus was be deployed throughout the summer months at larger city festivals and events including: • Taste of Chicago • Chicago Jazz Festival • Bud Billiken Parade • Lollapalooza • Riot Fest • Pitchfork • The bus was also be present at smaller community and neighborhood festivals including: • Pride • Fiesta Del Sol • African Festival of Arts • Crosstown Classic • Chicago Football Classic • CTA 70th Anniversary event
