Shotgun Priority In this screen you will prioritize holes to double-up on. The hole assigned the first priority (1) will be the first hole to be doubled-up on, and so on. To enter players go to Players-Other Add/Remove Player Options-Insert Players via GHIN Number. To enter players manually without internet, choose “Manual (Guest) Entry”
In the Add Players from GHIN Enterprise Server screen, set options for Revision Date as “Use Current Revision” and Multi-Member H.I. Selection Method as “Select from List”. Enter the player’s GHIN number, click “Add”. If the player belongs to more than one association a list will appear. Click on the “31” club, then click “Accept”. Continue adding players until all have been entered, then click “OK”.
NOTE: Your computer’s internet security could be blocking communication with the GHIN server. You may have to turn your internet security off temporarily while you are entering players. This is one error message can get if you enter an invalid GHIN number. You could also get another player’s information if the GHIN number you entered happens to be in use. Be sure to verify that you are getting the correct player.
You should shorten the club name so that it fits in the report fields later on. Delete “Country Club”, “LGC”, etc. After all players are entered, go to Players/Tournament Player Management to view list of players and make any necessary changes. This is where you will enter Alpha Sort Sequence numbers that will be very helpful when you get to pairings.
In Alpha 1 Field assign Sort Sequence numbers. In the case above A is the bracketing designation, 19 is the H.I. (rounded to whole number and 11 is the club number See completed form 1027 on next page - Assign club number in upper right corner and assign alpha designation for bracketing players. Note: Past Presidents should be assigned to holes 1 and 10. The Alpha 1 Field should specify a Past President so the DIC can be assured they start on 1 or 10.
This page is a placeholder for a sample entry form to be part of the presentation.
You may need to update the indexes before your Open Day. Go to Players/Update Handicap Indexes/via Inquiry (All Golfers).
Important tip Make sure this field says “Latest Revision” and not “Select from List”. If you leave it on “Select from List”, you will have to go through each golfer individually and there is no way to get out of the screen until you go through every golfer. This is how the screen should look, click “OK”.
The Inquiry Confirmation screen will appear after update is complete. Print this confirmation. Check to make sure player information (name and club) is correct.
Before creating flights, print a player report with CH to help you determine number of flights. Set options as above using dropdown arrow for “Creation of Flights” and “Creation Method”. After determining the number of flights you will need, type that number in “Number of Flights”. Click “Build”.
Go to Flight Management, look at flights with Course Handicaps showing. If the flights look okay, leave as is and go to page 31 for instructions on renaming flights. In this example Mary Thornhill should be in Flight 1. To move players to another flight, click on the name and drag it to “Insert Here” in the correct flight. There is another way of moving to another flight that will be shown on the next page.
Right-click on Mary’s name. Choose the option “Add Selected to Flight 1”.
Be sure ALL players are in flights. There CANNOT be any names in the “Available” field. Either put the player in a flight, or in the case of a cancellation, delete the player from the Open Day.
Rename Flights Add handicap range of each flight to Flight Name. Have “Course Handicap” selected in the “Show” field. Click on “Rename Flight” and add handicap range to name of flight. Click OK. This will be helpful when announcing winners.
Pairings will be next. Go to Pairings/Create Stroke Play Pairings.
Set Pairing Method and Sub Method as above. Make sure starting time is correct. Click Build. (button hidden under Shotgun Group Assignment window). Make sure hole assignments are correct, then click OK.
Have Alpha Sort Sequence 1 in the “Show” field. Make sure players with alpha sort sequence numbers are paired together. In this screen you can move players as needed. You are able to see bracketed players, handicaps and clubs all in this screen. To move players, click and drag them to the position you want them in.
You could also run a report that shows the pairings, club names, sort sequence numbers and course handicaps to use when moving the players for pairings. In this case you can see that Karen and Joyce are both from Spring Creek and need to be moved. You can also see the players that are bracketed.
Next, you will remove the “A” on tees that do not have a “B” group. You will also need to change the starting times if you have groups on “B” tees. Go to Pairings/Reassign Starting Times.
Change the start times for the “B” groups – add 10 minutes. Also, if there is no “B” group on a hole, delete the “A”. In the above example, the “A” on holes 3 and 5 should be deleted.
Use Open Day 404 card. Set options as on this screen. You might first want to print selected cards to make sure they print correctly on the pre-printed forms. Click on “Print All” to print all cards.
Here is an example of a scorecard. Things to check: CH on card, card dotted properly, time of finish, name, date and starting tee and time.
Next, you will print out cart signs and reports. Go to Reports > Report Menu > Favorites. Open Day Reports are in a separate folder. Before the Open Day you will print all of the above reports except for the scoring report. Samples of the reports are included in this manual.
To print cart signs, click on Open Day Cart Sign report. Set options as above. Click “OK” and the next screen will prompt you to print the cart signs.
Alphabetical is only one of the options. Some directors prefer to use “Starting Time” as the option. With that option you can enter scores for the entire foursome, which can be faster. To enter scores, set options on this screen by using drop-down arrows. Make sure “Stableford” is selected as “Score Type”.
Make sure all players have an ESC score. That will ensure you do not have more than 5 X’s. Enter scores on this screen. It will show the gross and net Stableford points and ESC. You will be using reports that show this information.
If a player cancels, click on “Active” field. There will be an option for withdrawal, “W/D”. Choose that option.
No ESC Score At Open Days, players are instructed to “X out” if they are at net double bogey or higher. TPP will only accept 5 X’s. In this case, Vicki has 7 X’s. In scoring reports she will show up as “No Score”. You must remove the X’s from at least 2 of her scores. In this case you can remove the X from holes 1 and 10 and it will not affect her Stableford Points.
Now has ESC Score Here is Vicki’s score with the X’s on holes 1 and 10 removed. Her Stableford Points remained the same, and she now has an ESC score.
After scoring is completed, print out scoring report, setting options as above - be sure to set Type of Score as Stableford. The report will show net Stableford points by flight. Use the scoring report to announce winners.
