“Changing Landscape” White Paper • Subgroup Lead – Dave Cowen • Purpose – Develop paper summarizing significant recent advances in geospatial technology and expansion of uses within government, business, and by the public. • Audience – Appointees, senior managers, key stakeholders • Actions: • NGAC approved paper in concept • Final comments/edits by Oct 24 • Allen Carroll/National Geographic – will provide final editing/layout • Printable PDF by end of December
Transition Paper • Subgroup Lead – Matt O’Connell • Purpose – Develop recommendations on geospatial policies and opportunities for next administration • Actions: • NGAC provided conceptual approval for recommendations related to: • Federal Coordination/Leadership • Key Geospatial Initiatives • Statutory/Policy Recommendations • Workforce/Education • Subgroup update paper to reflect NGAC discussions • NGAC Recommendations Paper forwarded to FGDC
National Land Parcel Data • Subgroup Lead – Dave Cowen • Purpose – NGAC review and advice related to the recommendations in the NRC National Land Parcel Data Study • Actions: • NGAC endorsed recommendations in NRC report, and identified a set of comments related to the recommendations • NGAC recommends that immediate action be taken on Recommendation #1 in the NRC report (designation of land parcel coordinator) • NGAC recommends that FGDC, through the Cadastral Subcommittee, convene a stakeholder group to address parcel data issues related to the mortgage crisis. • 10/17/08 Steering Committee Discussion – response activities underway
Updates for NGAC Imagery for the Nation • Update on IFTN implementation activities • Report on status of issues identified in NGAC endorsement Geospatial Line of Business • Update on LoB implementation activities • Request for NGAC feedback to FGDC on Draft Supplemental Circular A-16 Guidance (Fall 2008) • Update on LoB SmartBuy initiative – encouragement for NGAC and others to respond to Request for Information (as individuals, not as advisory committee activity)
Revising NGAC Action Plan Approach: • Address two - three decision-making issues/initiatives per meeting • Tee up emerging issues for the next meeting • Provide updates and progress on ongoing initiatives • Subcommittees and action teams to work on tasks between meetings • Subcommittees, in cooperation with Chair/DFO, develop project plans/milestones
