A little bit of history • The club became incorporated in 2007 and gained non-profit status in 2008 • Everyone involved wanted to find a way to expose kids to a sport that we know and love • WE ARE ALL VOLUNTEERS, from the Board President to the Coaches. Every person involved with this organization has a full time job outside of lacrosse • We started out playing on fields in a ditch at the middle school and now offer practices at two different sites and play all of our games at the high school complex • Through donations, fundraising and begging we have managed to purchase loaner equipment, multiple sets of goalie equipment, goals, balls, defensive sticks, a laptop computer, a shed, and an AED. WE continue to work toward growing the sport for both boys and girls in our community

US Lacrosse encourages all lacrosse players, coaches, officials and spectators to "COMPETE WITH CLASS and HONOR THE GAME" by adhering to the spirit of the rules, especially those that minimize risk for players and those that pertain to participant sportsmanship. By signing the Compete with Class- Honor the Game pledge, players agree to: • Respect their coaches, teammates, opponents, officials, and the fans. • Compete with heart, honor, and hustle. • Honor the traditions of the game and respect the ancestors of the sport. • Have fun, be passionate, and adhere to the spirit of the game both on and off the field.
Code of Conduct • Players, coaches, officials, parents and spectators are to conduct themselves in a manner that "Honors the Game" and demonstrates respect to other players, coaches, officials, parents, spectators and fans • The essential elements in this "Code of Conduct" are HONESTY and INTEGRITY. Those who conduct themselves in a manner that reflects these elements will bring credit to the sport of lacrosse, themselves, their team, and their organization.
Players should always demonstrate positive behavior and respect toward teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, parents and spectators. • Coaches, players, parents, and spectators are expected to demonstrate the utmost respect for officials and reinforce that respect to players/teammates.
Grievances or misunderstandings between coaches, officials or any other parties involved with the sport should be communicated through the proper channels and procedures, never on or about the field of play in view of spectators or participants. (24 hour rule) • Spectators involved with the game must never permit anyone to openly or maliciously criticize, badger, harass or threaten an official, coach, player or opponent.
Community Service • Why is this important? • Each year we ask each teams to choose a community service project. In the past, teams have cleaned up an area park, walked in the Lyme Walk, raised money for the Headstrong Foundation and collected canned goods and money for the Horseheads Food Bank through the “laCROSSe out Hunger campaign”. We are in need of a person to coordinate the community service project(s) this year, so if you have ideas for this or would like to coordinate the effort, please speak with April Cook.
Housekeeping Items • Team parents serve as a link between parents, players and coaches. • Raffle tickets- specific information is in each envelope. Completed ticket stubs can be placed in the shed mailbox. Please encourage your patrons to write legibly and include their address. ALL STUBS MUST BE TURNED IN BY APRIL 30th!!! • All players need to wear a mouthpiece any time that they are on the field. • Players on the 3/4 and 5 /6 teams need to wear an athletic cup any time they are on the field. • Players on the 1/2 team who play in the goal will also need an athletic cup.
Club Financial Information • The club became incorporated in 2007 and gained non-profit status in 2008 • We have focused on growing Lacrosse in the community and planned expenditures accordingly. Significant purchases include an AED, an equipment shed, a laptop computer, six goals, multiple sets of goalie equipment and full first aid items for all teams. We have also invested a significant amount of money into equipments and now have more than 30 equipment packages that can be loaned to interested players. • We have made a significant investment in the education of our coaches through the US lacrosse coaches education program. This is a combination of instructional clinics and online coursework. Our coaches have the opportunity every year to attend the US Lacrosse National Convention where they learn the very latest in safety, coaching theory and best of all…...techniques. • We are financially sound and are currently working toward purchasing additional AED’s for teams that practice or play away from our home base, the Holding Point. We feel that it’s important to maintain modest savings to accommodate any future opportunities.
