Happiness through Resilience - Personal Mastery | Lead Happy Life Happiness is a state of mind. It is a feeling of pleasure and positivity. When someone feels good, proud, relieved or satisfied about something, that person is said to be “happy”. Everybody is happy some time or the other. The objective is that we want to be happy ALWAYS. This is possible through Resilience and ‘let it go’ approach. Now try to remember ,the first time you fell in love. How nice you felt. The sky was exuberant, the colors were bright, every bird whistled for you and the river by the side was a quiet witness to your love. You were happy. Now remember your Kindergarten days. You got three stars on your hand for good behavior. Your teacher appreciated you in the whole class and you just couldn’t wait to reach home because you wanted to share your happiness with your mamma. Now remember one fine evening you went on the beach with your spouse and kids.Kids were busy playing in the sand. You and your spouse, quietly holding each other’s hand, watching the sunset and the cool of the breeze. You were happy. So,everybody is happy many times. Then why can’t we always be happy? That is because we face situations that make us sad or angry or helpless. Many times we have no control on these situations.Still,we can come back to happiness quickly by building a quality called resilience.
Resilience is a property of a material to come back to its original state. A steel scale is bent under the influence of external force. When force is removed the steel scale comes back to its original state. The external environmental forces( troubles) on which you have no control, will drift you from your path of happiness. When troubles are over, you must come back to your path of happiness. Have you observed a child learning to walk? It falls several time. Some times it gets hurt too. However ,it doesn’t give up.After a while tries again and again.Fails again and again. Finally succeeds. That time, you can see exuberance of happiness on its face. We all have learnt to walk this way.We all are born with the ability of resilience. We lose it when we grow.We can redevelop resilience. We all know Malala Yousafjai. She was shot in the head. What was her fault? She wanted to go to school. She survived and rose to the highest level of recognition. She is fighting for womens’ right to education. She got the Nobel Prize. She stands boldly, firmly and tells the world,”One note book and one pencil can change the world”. Stephen Hawking. Due to a degenerative disease he had suffered for more than thirty years, Hawking was paralyzed from head to toe, making him sit in a wheelchair. This made him a totally dependent person in his day to day life. However this did not prevent him from studying physics. In spite of these impediments he had written several books and he is currently one of the most recognized scientists. Instead of living as a victim and self-pitying, he lived an exemplary positive life. He stood firmly against the extremely odd circumstances and fulfilled his dreams. Embrace resilience, happiness will follow. Tags - Happiness through Resilience, Personal Mastery, Lead Happy Life
