Get to Know Your Counselor • Counseling Services: Academic, Career Advising, Social, and Personal • Counselors are available by appointment or walk ins welcome during break and lunch time. Claudia Barajas Sue Cuquet Lisa Marcotte Tina Tayloe
Secrets of Good Grades • Good Attendance • Asking Teachers for Help • Utilize After School Tutoring (in the library) • Time Management • Use of Parent Connect and/or Weekly Progress Reports
Get Involved • Join Clubs on Campus • Play a Sport • Volunteer • Keep a running journal of activities you are involved in throughout high school. Doing so will help you write personal essays your senior year when applying for UC/Private Colleges and applying for scholarships.
Transcript We have just completed the 1st quarter on October 12th 2012. Students had the potential to earn 5 credits in each class = 20 credits for the quarter.
Grades & Credits • Pass California High School Exit Exam: Taken Spring of 10th grade ELA: 350 Math: 350 • Meet Credit Requirements: 280 credits • Pass Subject Areas • English 40 credits • State Requirements 5 credits • World History 10 credits • U.S. History 10 credits • Amer. Govt/Econ 10 credits • Physical Education 20 credits • Science (physical,life,3rd yr) 30 credits • Mathematics (including Alg 1) 20 credits • Art or Foreign Language 10 credits • Additional 125 credits *Failed Credits in required courses must be made up.
Start Planning for your Future Trade School: Make contact Check on prerequisites for program Military: Take the ASVAB : Starting in 10th grade Make contact with recruiter Community College: Complete Graduation Requirements Continue taking Math and Science CSU/UC Complete A-G requirements (C or higher) Or private college Take the SAT/ ACT 10th grade: Take the PLAN (practice ACT) 11th grade: Take the PSAT in the fall 11th grade: Spring, Take SAT and/orACT 12th grade: Take SAT and or ACT by Dec.
Programs to assist you with going to College • If you are a first generation college bound student you can apply this year for the following programs: • Upward Bound through Yuba Community College or Chico State (check online for applications or see your counselor) • ETS (Educational Talent Search) through Chico State (check online for applications or see your counselor)
